Demontage – Palast der Republik – Deconstruction – Palace of the Republic

The Palace of the Republic has been a symbol of the GDR for many of their former citizens connected with good memories of cultural events and festivities. Its destruction and removal in 2008 were seen as an aggressive act to destroy an important period of their lives. The strength and glance of its steelconstruction fascinated me evoking its power to resist.
